I love Christmas and I decided to make a new tatting pattern for something that’s perfect for decorating for Christmas. This is a free beaded Christmas tree tatting pattern.
This free pattern is for a Christmas tree that has a cute little star on top. This pattern actually took quite a few tries to get the shape of the tree right. But, I’m really happy with how the pattern turned out and I love the beads.
This beaded tatting pattern is an intermediate tatting pattern because you use beads and a beginner may find the pattern a little confusing.

Supplies
- Size 10 Green Crochet Thread
- Size 10 Yellow Crochet Thread
- 4mm Crystal Beads (This pack I ordered came with 3 sizes of beads, but I used the smallest size which are 4mm.)
- Tatting Shuttle or Tatting Needle
- Small Crochet Hook (optional)
- You can also purchase the ad-free PDF pattern on my Etsy shop for a small fee Here.
And here below is the tatting diagram for the beaded Christmas tree.
The Christmas tree is approx. 5 1/4″ tall and 4″ wide at the widest point.
This tatting pattern uses the shuttle and ball method. But, you could use make the Christmas tree with needle tatting.
Tatting key
- ds = double stitches
- Ch = chain
- R = ring
- (-) = picot
- (+) = join
- b = beaded picot
Go!
String 68 beads on the green crochet thread and wind the shuttle. You’ll need 56 on the shuttle thread and 12 beads on the ball thread.

Ch: 4ds join to the first chain you made, 2ds. Connect to the base of the first group of rings you made. Cut and tie off the ends and weave them in. And I like to make the star before I block the Christmas tree.
Making the star:
Wind your shuttle with the yellow crochet thread.
R: 3ds – 3ds – 3ds join to top ring picot of the Christmas tree, 3ds close.
R: 3ds join to the same Christmas tree picot as the other ring, 3ds – 3ds – 3ds close.
R: 3ds + 3ds – 3ds – 3ds close.
R: 3ds + 3ds – 3ds – 3ds close.
R: 3ds + 3ds – 3ds, join to the first ring’s picot, 3ds close. Cut the tie off the ends and weave them in.
The Christmas tree may look a little wonky, so you may have to block it. To block my tatting projects I like to spray them with a little water and then stretch it out to make it lay flat. Then to let it dry on a flat surface.
Now, you have a finished beaded Christmas tree. I love the beads on the Christmas tree. I hope that you enjoy this free tatting pattern for a beaded Christmas tree, and thank you for looking at this free pattern.
