Hey everybody, and welcome to my flower bookmark tatting pattern. The other bookmark tatting pattern I did was so popular that I decided to do another one.
Here is the other bookmark tatting pattern I did. “Free Lace Bookmark Shuttle Tatting Pattern.”
This time I made a flower bookmark. I love flowers and reading, so this bookmark combines two of my favorite things.
This is a beginner tatting pattern and so easy to make. The flower bookmark is the perfect project or gift for anybody that loves flower or books. Or, if you just love tatting patterns or just tatting in general.
I made this bookmark with different colors of flowers, because I think using different colors really make the flowers stand out. But, you can also make all the flowers of this bookmark in just one color.
That’s the great thing about crafts. You can try different things, use different colors and change the project to however you like.
Because in crafting there is no right or wrong just whatever preference you have. Whether you want to use different colors of thread or even different thread sizes.

Supplies
- #10 Crochet thread in different colors or just one color.
- Tatting shuttle or tatting needle.
- Small crochet hook (optional).
- You can also purchase the ad-free PDF pattern on my Etsy shop Here for a small fee.
And like with my other tatting patterns, I also have the free tatting diagram. The diagram is here below.
This free tatting pattern can be made by shuttle tatting or by needle tatting. And this free pattern uses the ball and shuttle tatting method.
Like always the small crochet hook is optional, but I like to use a small crochet hook when shuttle tatting. And if you’re doing needle tatting instead of shuttle tatting, a crochet hook is not needed at all.
And this pattern calls for size 10 crochet thread, but you can always use a different size of thread. Just remember that using a different size thread will change the finished size of your project.
A finished flower bookmark is approx. 6″ long and 1.5″ wide.
Tatting key
- ds = double stitches
- Ch = chain
- R = ring
- (-) = picot
- (+) = join
Go!
Wind your shuttle with whichever color of crochet thread you want. I’m starting with a light pink crochet thread.
R: 6ds – 6ds – 6ds close, turn your work over.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds + 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, connect to the base of the first ring you made and cut and tie off the ends and weave them in.
You now have the first flower of the bookmark finished.
Second flower:
Using a different color of thread or using the same color, wind your shuttle.
R: 6ds – 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds join to one of the picot on the first flower chain, 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds + 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn your work over.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn.
R: 6ds + 6ds – 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, turn your work over.
R: 6ds + 6ds + 6ds close, turn.
Ch: 8ds – 8ds, connect the end of the chain to the base of the first ring you made. And cut and tie off the threads and weave them in.
Repeat the steps for the second flower and add 2 more flowers to the bookmark. So, the bookmark will have a total of 4 flowers. Now, you have a finished flower bookmark.
Extra
I did the flowers of my bookmark in different colors. But, you can use the same color or different colors. Or, you could even use 2 colors and create a pattern.
For example if you used pink and purple crochet thread. You could do one flower in pink, the next flower in purple, then another pink and go back and forth between the colors.
I like using different colors of crochet thread for this bookmark, but I think using one color would also make a pretty bookmark.
Thank you for reading and looking at this new tatting pattern. I hope that you enjoyed my free flower bookmark tatting pattern. And be sure to check back on my blog often for new tutorials and patterns. Because I have a couple of more tatting patterns I am working on and will get posted sometime in the future.
