Valentine’s day is just around the corner, no matter what time of the year it is. So, it’s never to early to start on a Valentine’s day quilt. Here are my top 10 Valentine’s day quilt ideas. Two of the patterns you have to purchase, but the other eight are free patterns.
I love making quilts and I especially like Valentine quilts, because a lot of them have pink in them (my favorite color is pink if you don’t know that already.) You can also make a Valentine quilt out of just about any quilt pattern. A crazy quilt in reds and pinks with some pink and red lace and heart shaped buttons, I found these buttons on amazon they’re different sized red heart buttons that just look perfect for a valentine crazy quilt. A wedding ring quilt in different Valentine fabrics. You can also do a nine patch quilt, a log cabin quilt, a flying geese quilt, kaleidoscope quilt or basically any other quilt pattern can be turned into a Valentine’s quilt with just the right fabrics.
What’s quilting fabric
There are many different kinds of valentine quilting fabric. Quilting fabric usually just means fabric that is 100% cotton. Some of my favorite brands of fabric are Riley Blake and Moda fabric. Riley Blake has a valentine fabric line called “Sugar And Spice” and I think any of those fabrics would make a beautiful quilt, I especially like the sweetheart fabric in the pink. But, both Moda and Riley Blake have a lot of different valentine fabrics to choose from. Wouldn’t a light pink fabric with chocolate candies all over it be pretty for a quilt.
And if you don’t want to do a large quilt, like a king or queen, you can make a mini quilt if the quilt is just a bunch of quilt blocks. Just don’t make as many quilt blocks, and mini quilts are good to start making quilts if you’ve never made a quilt before.
Don’t forget to pin this post for later.
