I love puff pastry, it’s flaky and delicious and this easy recipe uses puff pastry. This is a really easy dinner recipe for ham and cheese pockets.
I say it’s a dinner recipe, but it would great for lunch or especially for breakfast. These pockets are delicious with the gooey cheese, diced ham and flaky dough.
I used black forest ham, but any ham would taste great. You could even use turkey or even roast beef for these delicious pockets. I got regular sandwich ham and diced it up, because the store didn’t have any diced ham. So, you can dice up the ham yourself.

Substitutes
Like, I said above I use black forest ham for these pockets, but you could use any ham or even turkey or roast beef.
You could also use a different cheese. I use American sliced yellow cheese. But, you could use sliced white cheese, pepper jack cheese, or colby cheese.
Any type of cheese would taste great. And I love puff pastry for these pockets, because it’s so flaky. But, you could substitute croissant dough if you prefer.
Ingredients
To make these delicious ham and cheese pockets you only need 3 ingredients.
- Ham (diced).
- Sliced cheese ( I use American cheese).
- Puff pastry dough.
Puff pastry dough is usually kept frozen and then you’ll take it out of the freezer about 30 minutes before you need it and let it thaw at room temperature.
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 1: Cut the sheets of puff pastry into 4 squares each (with both sheets cut you’ll have a total of 8 squares).
Step 2: Place the diced ham on the puff pastry squares.
Step 3: Cut a slice of cheese in half and place half of the cheese on top of the ham.
Step 4: Fold the puff pastry over the ham and cheese in a triangle and press the edges together with your fingertips. I also like to take a fork and go around the edges to make them look a little fancier.
Step 5: Bake the ham and cheese pockets in the oven for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown. But, 20 minutes is usually enough time to bake them.
Step 6: Now, it’s time to enjoy.
That is how easy these ham and cheese pockets are to make. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time you can make these delicious flaky pockets.
And here below in the printable recipe for these ham and cheese pockets. I love to have a printed copy of recipes, so I can write on them and make notes.
